This article is story about negotiation of American beef between Korean and American. But, this article don’t tell all thing just it tall these days situation.
Now, in Korea, many people, like more than a million people have been making big demonstration for more than 2 months about American beef because a few months ago, Korea government and American government make a negotiation about American cow’s export to Korea , and American export cows to Korea that were more than 30 months old. So, Korean believes that American beef, which is more than 30 months old, has disease which name is Mad Cow disease. After the negotiation, many Korean was angry. So, now they have accused their president whose name is Lee Myung Bak. Korean thinks that president take shoulder about that negotiation.
In my opinion:
I think that mad cows disease is very serious problem, and Korean have to protect Korea ourselves. But, I think that Korean have to think about our president. He made a big mistake. But, i think that any presidents should not want make a big mistake to their people. Also, now president, Lee Myung-bak didn’t want to make a mistake. I believe my president because nobody of presidents lives their life for killing their people. He is also Korean. I don’t want to make a demonstration any more.

I heard "Mad Cow Disease" many years ago and BSE in cattle was first reported in 1986 in United Kingdom.This is chronic, fatal disease affecting the central nervous system of human , the brain tissue of victims is full of tiny holes. Don't understanding why the governement not to set up the new measument system to ensure provide a good clean, safe food for human consumption. We have the case of H5N1 disease fm chicken in Asia, once we found any death of chicken in market, it will create slaungter in whole farm or market. Also, take inspect on animal one by one to ensure they're safe before send to market. We know it was create huge expenses on compensation for business man but government do their best to protect people's life. I hope the all goverment should doing the same way.
I think it's not only ploblem between America and Korea because recently, many Japanese people also don't trust American beef because the same reason as Korean people, so I feel American goverment must think deeply about safty of American beef.
I think we cannot help trading between one country and other countries. It is a natural because the world is not a small any more. Everyone can go everywhere in the world. Naturally, people want to introduce their culture such as foods, so we trade each other. Korea and U.S.A Free Trade Agreement(FTA) contracted a couple of months ago. Of course, each country insist own situation that is more profitable. In brief, I think Korean government has to prepare management after the negotiation and relieve their people's anxiety as soon as possible.
We heard about "Mad Cow Disease", we know it may take our life away. However, there are no case to prove human being who is infected by mad cow disease of american beef, but people want to avoid any possible get illness from cow, and this is all gorvenment responsibility. Otherwise, people only can passive protest which refuse purchase their any products.
It's a terrible thing!! People must think about morality before make money. There are a lot of information in the world, so we need an ability to know what is correct information or not. I think the world is so crazy!!
I believe that both governments, American and Korean, are at fault. First, the American government should regulate the same standards as set-forth by the FDA. Second, the Korean goverment should inspect the product before buying it.
I studyed about mad cow disease in my university and this disease is very dangerous also, this is a big problem between U.S. and many countries. However, I think it's time to restart import American beef. Because American beef need their credit but if there are no american beef in the country except U.S. Nobady can know this is ok or not.

This problem is so complicated.I think it's not just problem for the public health but political one.That is to say,President Lee is in a dilemma. I hope he will choose right way for Korean people.
This is political/economical deal between Korea and US. So, I don't know anything about the cow meat quality after 30 years old, but there are a lot of expert about this topic and I think there are the best to decide the best solution.
